Alvinegro Praiano won 3-2. Corinthians took third place. In the individual awards, Gão (Edivaldir) from Santos was the star of the match. Leandro Carvalho of America (RJ) top scorer with 7 goals and Diego Garcia of Corinthians lowest scorer.
The Copa do Brasil already has its second champion. Santos won the national title on Sunday, beating Ponte Preta 3-2, with goals from Henrique, Jefferson and Japa. Thiti and Lipe scored for Ponte. As well as the title, Santos secured a place in the Super Copa de Futebol 7 in Taubaté, at the Arena Taubaté.
In the individual awards, Gão from Santos was the Man of the Match. Corinthians had the best defense and Leandro (America), the top scorer with 7 goals.
In the preliminary match, Corinthians beat Serra (ES) 2-1 to take third place in the competition and also secure a place in the Super Cup. Both games were broadcast live on Sportv 2, with André Hernan reporting live.
At the end of the match, Japa from Santos scored the winning goal: "The title was a long time coming. And I didn't expect to score, it's inexplicable. I just have to say thank you, the squad is very united and very strong, our team is to be congratulated for the achievement," he concluded.
An annoyed Portuga commented on the game: "I think the team played a good game today, we managed to score. And Santos played a good game and deserved the title." When asked if the refereeing had interfered Portuga said "they blew the whistle with the Santos shirt on today".
Coach of the São Paulo national team, Marcio Ambrust, also coach of Santos FC Fut7, said, "this is the result of the players' hard work and commitment, and Santos is specializing in playing in competitions of this size," he said.
