Taubaté wanted to make a name for themselves in front of their home fans and in the fourth minute, from a corner kick, João Batista rose above everyone to open the scoring for the Burros da Central, 1-0.
With the score in their favor, the home team shut up shop, waiting for their opponents to make a mistake and add to their lead. However, with all the experience of the Alvinegra team, it wasn't easy to hold them off. With little communication between defender and goalkeeper, Taubaté scored an own goal through Nicolas, 1-1. But it didn't take long for Corinthians to take advantage of the country team's tense moment, in the 8th minute David cut through the defender and hit a cross, but Mike got his foot on it to turn the game around, Timão 2-1.
Trailing by a goal, Taubaté tried to get a foothold in the game, but Corinthians kept possession of the ball with great quality and didn't cause any problems. Towards the end of the first half, Léo Moratta hit a firm free-kick to make it 3-1.
In the second half, Timão tried to kill time, holding the ball up and not letting Burro da Central play. Taubaté pressed forward, but didn't pose much danger to goalkeeper Diego. Gradually, the home side evened up the game and began to trouble the Alveinegra defense. From another corner kick, the ball went to João Batista who once again saved it, 3-2.
Just as Taubaté were trying to press for an equalizer, the cold water came pouring down. Léo Moratta assisted captain Mike to score another goal with just one touch, Corinthians 4-2 Taubaté.
