Looking to qualify for the final of the competition, América-RN faced Murici-AL in the first leg of the semi-finals of the 2nd stage of the Brazilian Beach Soccer Championship 2020. Both teams created chances throughout the first half, but the club from Alagoas showed their superiority in the first few minutes of the game and opened the scoring through Role Maceió. After the goal, Murici continued to attack and got their second goal through Cibite.
After the break, América-RN went on the attack and came close to reducing their lead, but Murici took advantage of another Mecão slip-up and scored again through Cibite. Soon after, Almir scored his fourth of the game. Before the end of the second half, André Bigode reduced América-RN's deficit to 4-1.
In the third and final period, América-RN drew strength from seemingly nowhere and pulled off a spectacular comeback. They created more chances and scored with Edson Hulk and Rafinha, bringing them level on points. For Murici-AL, Hector scored another, but it didn't slow down the Rio Grande do Norte side's momentum. Close to the final whistle, André Bigode and Edson Hulk scored to give América-RN a 7-5 victory.
América-RN's coach celebrated the result at the end of the match.
"We were aware that it was going to be a very difficult game, Murici are a strong team, well prepared physically, but our team made the difference when they woke up for the game. We have André who, despite not being in the national team, is an idol, Edson Hulk too, and that experience made the difference," said Jeferson Martins.
