In a game with plenty of goals and star player Datinha playing too much, Sampaio Corrêa secured victory in the final of the 2nd stage of the Brazilian Beach Soccer Championship 2020 by beating América-RN 6-3. The final took place on Sunday morning (01/11) at the Santos Dumont Sports Center in Boa Viagem, Recife-PE.

THE GAME

Like any good final, the match between Sampaio Corrêa and América-RN was hotly contested. The fight for the title began in the first few minutes of the game, when Igor opened the scoring for Mais Querido. In search of a reaction, América-RN went for the equalizer through Edinho. After the goal, Sampaio went on the attack and Igor extended the lead for Mecão. Shortly afterwards, Edinho made it all the same for América-RN. Before the break Datinha scored the third for the Maranhão club.

On the stroke of half-time, the star and big name of the match, Datinha, put Sampaio ahead. With the lead on the scoreboard, the Tricolor de Aço continued on the attack and Alisson scored another. Rafinha pulled one back for América-RN soon after. The match continued to be very busy in the final stage with chances for both sides, but Sampaio Corrêa relied on the experience of winger Edinho and scored the last goal of the game.

At the end of the game, Datinha spoke about the title.

"I just have to thank God for Sampaio's campaign. We made it to the final. I just have to thank my teammates and my family. Give glory to God that we've won this title and now we have to think about Rio de Janeiro, which is going to be a very strong championship, but we're going to be focused," he said.

INVICTED

Sampaio Corrêa finished the tournament unbeaten, with 5 wins from 5 games. They also showed their firepower by finishing the tournament as the team that scored the most goals: 36.
