Anchieta won third place in the 2020 Brazilian Beach Soccer Championship. The team from Espírito Santo beat Flamengo 6-5 and secured third place in the overall standings.

The match began with a special tribute to Antonio. The defender lost his father, Seu Antonio, to health complications on Saturday (21/11). Rodrigo held up a shirt with the number 3, worn by his friend, during the 1-minute silence held by both teams.

When the ball rolled, balance dictated the pace of the game. It couldn't have been any different with two squads full of stars from the Brazilian national team, as well as the last two players voted Best in the World: Spain's Llorenç, in 2018, for Flamengo, and Portugal's Jordan, in 2019, for Anchieta.

The first period was the only one that ended with a slightly bigger lead for one of the teams. Flamengo led 3-1, with two goals from Rodrigo and one from Igor, while the Espírito Santo side pulled one back through Bê Martins. In the second half, it was Capixaba defender Brendo's turn to score twice and bring his team closer to their opponents who, almost at the end, scored with Filipe, keeping the Cariocas ahead 4-3.

The third half was the most tense. Portuguese-Brazilian Léo Martins scored from the penalty spot in the first few minutes, leveling the score and restoring Anchieta's confidence. Flamengo used the experience of their players to level the match, but a mistake in the marking on a corner kick saw Bruno Xavier find Bê Martins alone, who hit a beautiful first-time shot. Zé Lucas extended the scoring and gave his team more peace of mind. Flamengo scored late on through Filipe, but it was too little too late. The final score was 6-5 to the team from the city of Anchieta.

Sunday still has the Grand Final, which kicks off at 2.30pm, broadcast LIVE on Sportv!
