BRAZIL LADIES CUP SECOND EDITION OPENS IN PACAEMBU
Araraquara will be the main venue for the second edition of the Brasil Ladies Cup, a women's soccer competition organized by the International Federation of Football Soccer Society (FIFOS) and the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF), with the support of the City Hall.
The tournament will take place from November 7 to 15 and will bring together eight national and international teams. The Fonte Luminosa Arena will host six matches and the grand final. Another six matches will be played in Jaú, at the Zezinho Magalhães Stadium.
There are two groups: in Group A are Ferroviária, São Paulo, Flamengo and Universidad de Chile. Group B includes Santos, Palmeiras, Internacional and Atlético de Madrid. The leaders of each group will go through to the final.
The event to announce the detailed groups for the tournament and the matches was held on Friday (7) at the Football Museum at the Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo. Mayor Edinho, Sports and Leisure Secretary Milena Pavanelli and Fundesport President Roseli Gustavo were present.
The championship will be broadcast by SporTV (all matches) and Band (in the final). Ferroviária's opener will be on November 8 at 6:30pm against São Paulo in Araraquara. The Guerreiras Grenás' next games will be on November 10, at 3pm, against Universidad do Chile, in Jaú, and on November 12, at 7pm, against Flamengo, in Araraquara.
"It's an immense joy for Araraquara to host an event of this importance, of this magnitude. It shows the quality of our city and our sports structure. Araraquara caught the attention of the organizers. And Ferroviária's women's team is the oldest women's soccer project in Brazil," said Edinho.
The Sports and Leisure Secretary pointed out that the women's soccer project has existed in Araraquara for over 20 years. "Our city was a pioneer in setting up the women's soccer project. The project began in 2001, with the encouragement of Mayor Edinho. This was well before Brazilian soccer legislation made it compulsory. Women's soccer in Araraquara is an option, not an imposition. It's our municipality's decision to promote the sport and help strengthen it," said Milena Pavanelli.
Also at the event, representing Ferroviária, were marketing director Betão Boschiero and professional soccer supervisor Janaíne Camargo.
Off the pitch
In addition to the matches, the Brasil Ladies Cup will also have three days dedicated to the development of the sport. Involving big names in women's soccer, references from the market and the field, there will be talks, workshops and exchanges of experiences from the most diverse professionals involved.
On November 11, the agenda will be "Management and Marketing", with lectures on the sport's market. On the second day, the focus will be on the technical side, with activities on the Fonte Luminosa Arena pitch and talks involving the teams taking part in the tournament. Finally, the "Manifesto Ladies Cup" takes place on the 13th. Speakers, times, venues and registration will be announced closer to the event.
The tournament's organizing committee is made up of Thaís Picarte (from the FPF), Marcelo Sangiovanni (Fifos), Anderson Rubinatto and Fábio Wolff. The event is sponsored by Atacadão, Estrelabet, Sabesp, Sicredi, EMS, Viapol, Wickbold, Guarani, Arkema, Umbro, Odontocompany, Sky, Qualicorp, Consigaz, Europ Assistance and Zap.
